Social media’s working overtime, remixing “Kamala is brat” memes like they’re pina coladas. Decent segué? Because we are here for the coconuts — especially because Kamala’s mom was obviously dropping some sweet financial literacy when she said “you think you just fell out of a coconut tree”.
First, let’s give anyone who needs it a little “Kamala Context”. Back on May 10 2023, Vice President Harris addressed a swearing-in ceremony at the White House, during which she quoted her mom who used to say, “I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?”
KH followed this quote with the infamous word salad heard around the world: “You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.”
Huh? Well, bear with us, because while the Veep was obviously talking about youth and humanity, she could also have been speaking about FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS!
Fundamental analysis helps you examine and test the value of a company and its stock. To run a fundamental analysis of a company, you examine macro things like the economy, industry conditions, and trends, as well as the specifics of the company itself — its leadership, history, profits and debt. With a fuller picture of what impacts a company from the inside and out, investors can make a more informed determination about whether the price the market is willing to pay for a stock is low, high, or just right. #Goldilocks
In other words, just as life is shaped by environment and history, so are companies. And we love that Kamala’s mom instilled these smart life literacy lessons early on. They are paying off…
Okay then, how about running some fundamental analysis on all of these Kamemealas!
Social media interest in Kamala has surged in the last week. At last look, the OG brat meme had been viewed 53MM times, with a “Femininomenon” meme on @kamalahq picking up approximately 1MM views a day. #kamalaharris has been trending on TikTok, with over 101 million views and 9,000 posts in 7 days.
Brat merch is popping off — Fire Island caught the early sightings, and Etsy’s in deep.
The global coconut market was booming long before Gen Zs started to lose their nut for Kamala. North America holds approximately 41% of the almost $15B global coconut market. But, assuming “Project Coconut” holds onto this memey moment and achieves escape velocity, could the rise or fall in coconut sales between now and November reveal the next President?
We’ll be watching… from up high with the coconuts.
